Under the (Italian) Influence - Spring 2016

Chromatica, a regional chorus recently dubbed “the undiscovered musical jewel of the East Bay”, presents “Under the Italian Influence”, a program devoted to the rich tradition of choral music written by Italian composers.

Focusing on a broad range of choral music written by Italian composers, the program includes a requiem mass written by Mozart's contemporary Antonio Salieri, the famous Easter Hymn by Mascagni from Cavalleria Rusticana, several pieces by Norman Dello Joio, music for films written by Henry Mancini and a piece that was a worldwide hit for Andrea Bocelli, Con Te Partiro.

The Italians have always had a special relationship with music and this program highlights the many different styles and types of music Italians have composed over the years — a concert with something for everyone.
