Music from Stage & Screen - Fall 2022
After a sold-out and very popular concert on May 7 (the first in more than two years — thank you COVID!) Chromatica is returning to its normal performance schedule with a typically eclectic program of music from stage and screen. Concerts will take place on November 12 at 7pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 3201 Camino Tassajara, Danville and on November 13 at 3pm at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 433 Moraga Way in Orinda. The Peace Lutheran concert in Danville will feature the return of our popular (and free!) wine reception after the performance.
What do Verdi, Gilbert and Sullivan, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Strauss, Stephen Sondheim, Smetana, Jonathan Larson, Christopher Tin and Lin Manuel Miranda have in common? They all wrote memorable music for the stage (and in some cases the screen). From Verdi's Rigoletto to Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers, from Sondheim's wide stage repertoire that included Into the Woods, and Merrily We Roll Along to the more contemporary Rent by Jonathan Larson (with help from Puccini) and the hugely successful Hamilton by Lin Manual Miranda these works include some of the best music ever written for the stage. Add to these The Bartered Bride from Smetana, Bernstein's Candide and Richard Strauss's famous drinking song and there's still more in these programs. And Chromatica gets to sing all of this in concert!
