Founded in 2011, Chromatica has grown from eight singers practicing in a children's classroom at Peace Lutheran Church in Danville to an auditioned adult chorus of 30 singers. Peace Lutheran remains Chromatica's first choice for performance. Still directed by David Huff, who founded Chromatica with Chris Kenber, the ensemble has developed a strong following through its uniquely varied choice of music.
Chromatica invites you to Our Journey Home, with captivating music celebrating home in all its forms. The first concert begins at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 433 Moraga Way in Orinda. The second begins at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3201 Camino Tassajara in Danville. The Danville concert will include Chromatica's popular post-concert wine reception.
Chromatica has performed music from the 12th through the 21st centuries in many languages and genres, from Gregorian chant to Twist and Shout and every flavor in between. Early in its history, Chromatica was fortunate to attract the very talented Julie Rieth of San Ramon as accompanist and solo pianist.

Two original commissions have already been written for Chromatica, and the chorus is working on a third with a nationally known composer. In January 2026, Chromatica traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico to perform the six-movement Transfigurations by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin. The chorus received a standing ovation despite being completely unknown in Santa Fe.
Next on the agenda is a trip to the United Kingdom in early 2028, where Chromatica expects to perform in London and elsewhere.

Chromatica is keen to welcome more singers who will appreciate the breadth of its repertoire and the outstanding direction of David Huff. At a time when local arts organizations have been under severe pressure, Chromatica has managed to prosper and grow because of its music choices, its membership and, most importantly, its audiences.
